Making it Easy for the Child to Use A Bedwetting Alarm

Using a bedwetting alarm can sometimes be frustrating for the child and parents. Here are some tips that will make using the alarm a comfortable experience.

Bedwetting alarms have a high success rate in treating bedwetting. However, in order to achieve permanent bedwetting relief, the child needs to agree with this type of treatment. And convincing your little one to wear what may seem like a strange medical device is not always easy to accomplish.

Here are a couple of things you can do to make things a little easier on your child:

  1. Emphasise the fact that a bedwetting alarm can help in treating bedwetting for good
  2. Show them how the alarm works. Take your time showcasing the alarm’s cool features: flashing LED’s, different chimes, etc…
  3. Let them play with it
  4. Explain there is nothing strange/shameful about using a bedwetting alarm
  5. Provide incentives if the child wears the alarm through the night
  6. Buy a bedwetting alarm designed specifically for kids. These are usually colored and aesthetically pleasing.
  7. Another option would be to purchase a wireless pad alarm. Since there is no wire and the sensor is attached to a pad (and not the underwear) this option may seem less intimidating to the child.
  8. Do not force the child to use the alarm if they don’t want to
